DIGITALIZATION and SUSTAINABILITY

MARKETS, STRATEGIES and INNOVATION

The Vienna Window Convention will take place for the first time in 2023 as the Vienna Window and Sun Protection Convention. From 22-23 June 2023, the program will include analyses, tools and best practices on current industry-relevant topics relating to digitalization, sales, the markets and innovations.

The WFSK remains thematically true to its line and in 2023 will focus on the development of markets and on contemporary strategies. For the first time, in addition to the window industry, in 2023 we will be shedding light on the neighbouring sun protection markets. In the form of parallel sessions, we will integrate the industry, broaden our view and open up to a wider audience.

In addition to the lectures, there will be panel discussions, the presentation of the WFSK.Awards, a lunch and an evening event on the 22nd of June.

TARGET GROUP: Management, sales and marketing of the window and sun protection industry, as well as their partner companies, media and associations.

SPEAKER COMPANIES 2023: Plandata, ALUKON, Salamander Industrie-Produkte, Bartenbach, RADEMACHER (Delta Dore Group) …

TICKETS are available from 499.-, we also offer a group ticket (4 for 3).

Beyond BIM | Digital Information Management in Construction

Thanks to new technologies and progressive standardization, BIM is finally establishing itself in German-speaking countries. New requirements, especially in the area of sustainability verification, are acting as a catalyst. Nevertheless, many questions remain unanswered in the area of lifecycle digital information management, which are being solved on many fronts.

The presentation will highlight current trends and developments in the digitization of the construction industry and will also show approaches and strategies that directly affect the window as one of the more complex elements of digital building models.

Intelligent coatings for windows and transparent roofs

Windows and roof lights are transparent components of the building envelope. For the energy efficiency of the building, it is crucial to design the radiation through these components in a favourable way. On the one hand, one wants as much daylight as possible inside, on the other hand, one wants to reduce the overheating of rooms during strong solar radiation or avoid an energy drain outside during the cold season. Since the 1970s, great progress has been made in terms of optimised windows through the introduction of low emissivity and solar control layer systems. Against the background of global warming and the need to decarbonise the building sector, great efforts are currently being made to further increase the efficiency of windows. Special attention is being paid to the possibility of specifically adapting to the changing external conditions. In this context, the lecture will discuss electrochromic and thermochromic coatings, whose potential has been evaluated in the EU project Switch2Save, which is just coming to an end.

Focus Sun Protection | Trends and developments

What challenges and opportunities will the crisis years 2020-2022 bring, and what will they require in terms of customer communication and loyalty? What needs to be done in terms of material supply, energy costs, price development. What trends and developments can be identified for the years 2023-2024. Looking at the crisis in new construction, lack of incentives and subsidies, general uncertainty, digitalization, new markets and, last but not least, the shortage of skilled workers. And last but not least: What efforts can and must sales make to counter them.

Wolfram Quast is overall sales manager at Alukon. He has many years of sales and marketing expertise.

    Focus Windows | Climate-neutral building / climate-neutral windows

Windows and exterior doors as building blocks of the energy and resource revolution

As a component of the building envelope, windows, exterior doors and facades form a building block in the sustainability of buildings. In addition to energy consumption during operation, emissions from raw material extraction to disposal or recycling must also be taken into account in the future. To this end, products are analyzed by life cycle assessments and evaluated according to a wide range of criteria. As a result, consumers and decision-makers are finding it increasingly difficult to select the right product for the application in question.

On the other hand, climate change with its increasingly frequent extreme weather events (periods of heat, heavy rain with flooding, high winds and hail) presents us with new challenges. It is no longer enough to limit climate change by using energy-efficient and sustainable building products; the building envelope components must also protect against extreme weather events. In addition to the sustainability of the products, it is also a matter of protecting life, health and material assets.

Focus Windows | How do you reconcile sustainability & innovation?

    Best Practice Case: Greta®Window

In a time when the energy turnaround is essentially lived with ideologies, prohibitions and paternalism, we are looking for positive challenges. Sustainability should not be a compulsory topic, but can be understood holistically and used as a creative impulse. The lecture looks at historical developments and deals with the following questions:
How can old conflicts between sustainability and design, environmental protection and economic efficiency, craft and digitalisation be resolved?
How can a fully developed commodity product like the window be further developed in an innovative, energy-optimised, resource-saving and design-oriented way?
Does the window have to be a commodity product?
How is positive sustainability integrated into the entire corporate process?
